Roderick is Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), a university of over 40,000 students, with campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough, Writtle and London. ARU has a focus on social mobility and inclusive, career-focused education. In 2023 it won the Times Higher Education University of the Year award and is rated Gold in the nationwide Teaching Excellence Framework.
Roderick’s academic background is as a composer with a particular interest in digital sound synthesis and the combination of acoustic and synthetic timbres, and his compositions have been performed and broadcast across Europe and the UK. In other roles he is a Director of Cambridge Ahead, Cambridge Network and Cambridge University Health Partners, Chair of the Ox-Cam Arc Universities Group and Deputy Chair of the University Alliance.
Roderick was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 2021.
