John (Johnny) Kaye was commissioned from The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, into The Royal Hussars (PWO) in 1972. After various command and staff appointments in the United Kingdom and Germany (British Army on the Rhine), he commanded The Royal Hussars from 1990-1992. He left the Army in 1992, and after working for the Countryside Alliance for 3 years, took on the family farm.
Johnny joined Her Majesty’s Bodyguard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms in 2003, and is currently the Clerk of the Cheque and Adjutant. He is President of the Cambridgeshire Branch of SSAFA, and of the Newmarket Branch of the Royal British Legion. He is the Cambridgeshire DL responsible for No 2 Company of the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force.
Johnny served as a magistrate for 13 years and was Chairman of the Ely Bench. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 1997.
