British Empire Medals 2019

Mollie Rollins

On 9th April 2019 at Peterborough Town Hall, the Lord-Lieutenant presented Mrs Mollie Rollins with the British Empire Medal, for services to the church and the community in Tydd St Giles.

Mollie has played the organ at the Methodist Church for 75 years and ran the Sunday school for over 40 years as well as sitting on many charitable committees in the village for many years.

Bisoye Babalola

On 9th April 2019 at Peterborough Town Hall, the Lord-Lieutenant presented Bisoye Babalola with the British Empire Medal, for services to the Creative Industries.

Eva Olga Clarke

On 2nd April 2019 at the Cambridge Guildhall, the Lord-Lieutenant presented Mrs Eva Clarke with the British Empire Medal, for services to Holocaust Education.

Eva Clarke was honoured for her work educating people about the Holocaust, working with the Educational Trust (HET), The Anne Frank Trust and the National Holocaust Centre.

Eva was born in Mauthausen concentration camp, Austria, in April 1945. She and her mother are the only survivors of her family, 15 members of whom were killed in Auschwitz-Birkenau – including her father, grandparents and cousin.

Anne Patricia Furbank

On 2nd April 2019 at the Cambridge Guildhall, the Lord-Lieutenant presented Mrs Ann Furbank with the British Empire Medal, for services to the Fashion Industry and Charitable Fundraising.

Anne opened the doors to her first fashion shop in the village of Buckden, Cambridgeshire in 1981. Since then the shop has grown from one to twelve showrooms.  Anne has also raised significant sums for charity both through her business and through running marathons.

Jean Elsie Pierson

On 2nd April 2019 at the Cambridge Guildhall, the Lord-Lieutenant presented Mrs Jean Pierson with the British Empire Medal, for services to the community in Romsey Town, Cambridge.

Deborah Jane Fletcher

For services to the community in Folkestone, Kent.

Michael William Haines

For services to People with Disabilities in Cambridgeshire.

Norman George Larke

Chairman, Chatteris Branch, The Royal British Legion. For voluntary service to the ex-Service community in Cambridgeshire.
