His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visit Cambridgeshire

On Thursday 3 July 2025 His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visited three venues in Cambridgeshire:

Great Shelford Village Charity, Cheffins Bicentenary Woodland and Woodwalton Fen.

The Duke of Gloucester was received at Great Shelford Village Charity by the Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Julie Spence OBE CStJ QPM to More’s Meadow to view the new almhouses houses providing affordable and sustainable homes and strengthening community wellbeing. A group of young children from Great Shelford helped His Royal Highness plant a tree to commemorate his visit. The Lord-Lieutenant’s cadet was Cadet Flight Sergeant Vladislav Artamonov.

The Duke of Gloucester and the Lord-Lieutenant arrived at Cheffins Bicentenary Woodland greeted by Deputy Lieutenant Mr James Hutt DL to open a new area of woodland. His Royal Highness planted a tree on site and was given a brief tour of the woodland. The visit coincided with Cheffin’s 200 year anniversary. The Lord-Lieutenant’s cadet was Cadet Sergeant Zoe Cordier.

The Duke of Gloucester and the Lord-Lieutenant arrived at Woodwalton Fen for His Royal Highness’ first visit as Patron of the peatland conservation vision. The Duke of Gloucester learnt about conservation management practises and heard about work that will be carried out in the coming months and years to transform areas into wetland habitat. The Lord-Lieutenant’s cadet was Cadet Lance Corporal Olivia Baldwin.
