The Duke of Cambridge visits Cambridgeshire

On Thursday 16th July 2020, HRH Prince William visited the Light Project in Peterborough at their Garden House facility.

The Light Project helps to move people off the streets into temporary accommodation and to receive much needed support in areas such as mental health, finding work and securing permanent accommodation. During the pandemic, The Light Project has helped over 150 people in 4 different hotels, kept the Garden House open as the only bastion of support for people on the streets in Peterborough and instigated a new multi-agency community support team to help people keep their homes.

HRH The Duke of Cambridge was able to hear first hand the passion of front line staff and volunteers who have given so much practical support and encouragement.  Light Project staff and volunteers were joined by some of their partners, enabling many of  those involved over the past few months to give an account of how they have contributed in these challenging times. Registered social landlords and other partners and organisations were able to tell of how much practical input with food and much needed supplies they have contributed to ensure no one has gone hungry or been in need.
