Richard is a farmer and former Chartered Surveyor. He is married to Helen, and they have three teenage children.
Richard is a Trustee of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), the Arbory Trust, and the Cambridgeshire Police Shrievalty Trust (CPST). He is Chairman of the Capital Fundraising Campaign for Maggies Cambridge, and a former Chairman of the Cambridgeshire Committee of the Country Land & Business Association (CLA), and the Cambridgeshire Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).
A Member of the Institute of Family Business (IFB), Richard’s other interests are farmland conservation, racket sports, and cycling.
Richard was the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire for 2017/18, and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 2018.
