Colonel Roger Herriot OBE DL

Roger completed his service as Commandant (Colonel) of Cambridgeshire ACF, a role he held from 2008 until December 2012. He spent a total of 46 years in Military uniform/service from the age of 13 to 61, serving in the Regular Army from 1970 to 1976, the Territorial Army for nine years and both Suffolk and Cambridgeshire ACF.

Currently, Roger is County President of the Royal British Legion, and Secretary of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association (Cambridgeshire). He is married with four children and six grandchildren, and although recently retired from running a successful furniture restoration business appears to be busy as ever.

Having moved to the City of Ely in 2023 he is now involved in veterans’ welfare, supporting a veteran’s drop-in centre in the library on Thursday mornings in Ely. He is also a member of the Armed Forces and Veterans Covenant Board. He occasionally has time to spend on his boat on the river Great Ouse.

Originally from the City of Armagh in Northern Ireland, Roger moved to Cambridgeshire in 1976 but still likes to holiday in Enniskillen and catch up with family.

Roger was awarded the OBE in 2013 and was also appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire in 2013.
