Mrs Sue Freestone OBE DL

Sue Freestone trained as a musician at the Royal Academy of Music. She has spent her career in education, becoming Head of Sibford School in 1997. She was Principal and Chief Executive of King’s Ely from 2004, and retired in 2019.

 

Sue has served as governor to a number of schools both state and independent in the UK and overseas, currently serving at The Perse, Cambridge. Since the 1990s she has been heavily involved in independent/state school partnerships and was involved in setting up the Cambridgeshire Education Partnership.  She has been a member of the Bishop’s Council and the Finance Committee of the Diocese of Ely and was Director of Education for the Kalisher Trust, committed to widening access to young advocates from diverse backgrounds to the Bar.

 

Sue was awarded an OBE in 2021 for services to Education and the community in Cambridgeshire, and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 2019.
